Material Data Sheet
Nimonic® Alloy 80A is a wrought,age-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy, strengthened by additions of titanium, aluminum, and carbon, developed for service at temperatures up to 1500ˇăF(815ˇăC). It is produced by high-frequency melting and casting in air for formsto be extruded. Electroslag refined material is used for forms to be forged.Vacuum refined versions are also available. Recommended filler metal forNimonic® alloy 80A is Nimonic® 90. A prerequisite for welding is that themetal should be solution treated. Fusion welding by tungsten inert gas weldingand metal inert gas welding methods are both suitable for this alloy.
Nimonic® alloy 80A can be hot worked attemperature ranges of 1920-2190ˇăF (1050-1200ˇăC) and hot forged at temperaturesin the range of 1800-2150ˇăF (982-1176ˇăC).
Material Data Sheet
Alloy Nimonic® 90 is aprecipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium-cobalt alloy strengthened by the additionof Titanium and Aluminum.Alloy90 has a high-stress rupture strength and creep resistance attemperatures up to 920ˇăC. Nimonic® 90 is typically used in extreme stress applications.Nimonic® 90 is welded using shielded metal-arc welding, gas-tungsten arcwelding, gas metal-arc welding, and submerged-arc welding methods. Nimonic® 90is hot worked or forged at temperatures ranging from 1800 to 2150ˇăF (983 to1177ˇăC)
Material Data Sheet
Nimonic® 263 (also known as Nicrofer 5120)was developed in 1971 by Rolls-Royce Ltd. as a replacement for Nimonic® alloy80A. It was designed to offer improved ductility in welded assemblies and tomeet specific criteria in terms of proof stress and creep strength.
It is suitable both for cold forming and hot forming.
Nimonic 263® is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium-cobalt alloy with the addition ofmolybdenum for solid-solution strengthening. It has high strength and corrosionresistance along with good formability and high-temperature ductility in weldedstructures.
The alloy is especially suitable for sheet applications. Used in gasturbines for rings, casings, and various sheet fabrications.
Nimonic 263® exhibits excellentintermediate temperature tensile ductility. It is not normally subject tostrain age cracking problems common for gamma prime strengthened alloys.Nimonic 263® alloy is normally used for applications up to about 1650ˇăF(900ˇăC).
Its oxidation resistance is comparable to that for othergamma-prime-strengthened superalloys.
